WVU-Syracuse: Lessons from the South Florida Autopsy
West Virginia travels to Syracuse to play l'Orange in the Carrier Dome on Saturday.
Statistically speaking, Syracuse is one of the worst teams in the NCAA. In particular, they're dreadful against the run—which WVU typically excels at.
In last year's victory over Syracuse, WVU QB Pat White ran for 247 yards and four TDs. Coach Rich […]

WVU-USF: Mountaineers Make the Wrong Kind of Statement
Last week, I wrote that WVU needed to make a statement against South Florida on Friday night. They did.
That statement was: WVU isn’t there yet. By “there,” I mean deserving to be included among the nation’s elite teams—Southern Cal and LSU. Every team has bad games. But elite teams can have bad games and still win—like Southern Cal […]

WVU-South Florida: The Case for the Mountaineers
Since the beginning of the 2005 season, WVU has lost three games:
- Oct. 1, 2005: Virginia Tech 34, WVU 17
- Nov. 2, 2006: Louisville 44, WVU 34
- Nov. 25, 2006: South Florida 24, WVU 19
Of those three losses, the only one that still sticks in my craw is South Florida.
I think of the Virginia Tech […]
